A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HOW AN OLD BUILDING CAN BE TURNED INTO A COMFORTABLE HOUSE, TOTALLY IN LINE WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The case of this farm used as a single-family house offers an ideal example of how an existing structure with no special prerequisites can be converted with surprising results into a 100% green home: the house of the future, and of the present.

The building is located in the plains adjacent to Monviso (3.841 m), in the province of Cuneo.

The whole renovation project that had this house at its centre was developed paying special attention to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, while perfectly fitting to the surrounding landscape.

Geonovis has designed and installed for the Customer a hydrothermal system (water-to-water, or open loop) with a total capacity of 15kW_t, to satisfy the family’s thermal and domestic hot water needs throughout the year.

The system takes advantage of the constant temperature of groundwater exploiting a pre-existing well, and is powered solely by the consumption of electricity needed to operate the Nibe F1145 heat pump. Photovoltaic panels installed for a total power output of 6 kW_e contribute considerably to meeting this requirement. The PV system produces about 6800 kW_h per year, with 7000 kW_h yearly total consumption of the house (heat pump, domestic uses, etc.): the result is hence an almost zero balance between annual production and consumption of electrical energy.

For the Customer and his family, it all adds up in total independence from fossil fuel consumption, zero emissions produced, and payment of a single bill related to energy consumption.
