FOR AN ALPIN HUT
THE CHOICE OF A FACILITY WITH ZERO ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT IN THE REINTERPRETATION OF THE ALPINE HUT AT MORE THAN 2,000 METERS ABOVE SEA LEVEL
Located in the upper Susa Valley at an altitude of 2420m, La Marmotta is an lodging facility that offers restaurant, cocktail bar and exclusive event venue services, providing its customers with absolute comfort in an almost pristine mountain nature setting. The design of the building, based on green building principles, included the implementation of a highly efficient and easy-to-manage heat generation system.
Since the geological conformation of the site did not allow the installation of a geothermal system with vertical probes, given the presence of a paleophane, Geonovis proposed and built an air-to-water system capable of producing domestic hot water and heating for 365 days a year, on a radiant area of 600 square meters.
Thanks to the operation of two aerothermal heat pumps installed in cascade, with a total capacity of 35 thermal kW, the system is able to operate in total efficiency down to -25°C outdoor temperature, generating flow water up to 63°C.
Giving due consideration to the scenic beauty of the site, the outdoor units of the aerothermal system were placed in integration with the exterior walls of the structure, so as to limit their visual impact without compromising the efficiency of the outputs. The system is designed to meet the needs of the low-temperature heating system and domesic hot water. In contrast, a conventional generator meets that of the air treatment unit and the high-temperature circuit .
As with the “Pit-stop” project in Cervinia, the system Geonovis has created for La Marmotta proves that it is possible to ensure comfort and major energy savings even at high altitudes, thanks to technology developed in Sweden by NIBE for harsh Nordic climates.
